Core Group member of Bharatiya Janta Party and its Jammu & Kashmir Affairs Spokesperson Khalid Jehangir has welcomed the setting up of offices by National Investigating Agency (NIA) in Jammu and Kashmir and urged the premier agency to audit the illegal assets accumulated by Kashmiri separatist during past over 20 years. In a statement to KNS, Jehangir said that offices of NIA in J&K were as important as police stations to fight the Pakistan sponsored terrorism in Kashmir in a better and professional way. He added that NIA’s presence in Jammu and Kashmir will also help to investigate the hawala and money laundering cases. “Most of the separatists have time and again been charged with hawala and money laundering cases and I hope NIA’s presence in J&K will help in opening of all such cases,” he said, adding terrorist activities are mostly funded by such transactions. He also said that separatist leaders’ objection over NIA setting up its base in Jammu and Kashmir was actually a result of their frustration that their illegally accumulated assts might be put on audit. “I urge the NIA to investigate the assets created by separatists and anti-national elements in J&K,” he said. The BJP leader said that from Leh to Kanyakumari, India is one. “BJP stands for zero-tolerance to terrorism and the anti-national elements wouldn’t be allowed to have a field day anymore,” he said.
