Villages Kawoosa-Khalisa to get drinking water from new WSS shortly: Sukhnandan Kumar

‘Government endeavours to provide good governance, accountable administration’

The inhabitants of Kawoosa-Khalisa villages would get drinking water supply from newly constructed Magam-Narbal Water Supply Scheme (WSS) shortly. The construction work of the said project taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 2.80 lakh is at the final stage.nandan Kumar Choudhary while addressing a largely attended public gathering at Kawoosa here on Friday.MP Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Legislators Muhammad Abbas Wani and Saif-u-din Bhat and Ex-MLA Beerwa Dr. Shafi Muhammad were also present on the occasion.The Minister said that as a result of wrong policies of the previous regime a number of such areas of the state have remained ignored and deprived even of basic amenities. “ Long pending demand of the people of villages Kawoosa-Khalisa for better drinking water facilities that has remained unheard by the previous governments, has today been fulfilled by the present dispensation”, the Minister said. He further added that on spot decision has been taken to ensure the village tap water from the newly constructed Magam-Narbal Water Supply Scheme (WSS).The Minister said that concerned engineers have been instructed to lay a pipeline from the source to the village at the earliest so that the people of the area do not have to face any further scarcity of drinking water.

The Minister said that the coalition government is giving focussed attention to improvement and upgradation of public infrastructure under core sectors. “The government during last six months has taken numerous reformative and people friendly initiatives to revamp the process for overall development in the State”, he said and added that comprehensive plans have been formulated by the State government and approved by the centre for allocation of funds to push forward various public utility projects across the state.Mr. Sukhnandan said “Our aim is to transform the socio-economic condition of the people in the State through various developmental initiatives and welfare schemes”. He asked the people to come forward and avail maximum benefit of such schemes.

The Minister asserted that the government endeavours to provide good governance and accountable administration to the people, adding that in this regard the administration has been instructed to consider and resolve public issues and problems on priority.Chief Engineer PHE, Kashmir G. M. Bhat briefed the Minister that owing to huge scarcity of water in the area the existing capacity of 0.5 MGD (Million Gallon Daily) of Batapora plant has been enhanced to 0.6 MGD and a 2 lakh Gallaon capacity SR (Service Reservior) have also been constructed which will cater to the needs of the people in the area.The Superintending Engineer (Hydraulic) Imtiyaz Ahmad Dhar informed that about 8000 population of several villages of Kawoosa-Khalisa including Chack Khalisa, Wani Mohalla, Khan Mohalla, Pir Mohalla, Bonapora, Tanghar Mohalla and New Colony would be provided drinking water through this scheme.
