Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Information Technology and Technical Education, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari, Monday gave directions to departmental functionaries and other stake holders to further speed up sports activities in their respective areas and ensure that more and more students take part in sports activities so that their hidden talent is harnessed in right direction. The Minister said this while interacting with the players at   the closing ceremony of State Level Inter District Kho Kho championship under 14, 17 and 19 boys and girls held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla.

Mr. Ansari said steps are being taken to build the sports infrastructure in the state with special attention to develop play fields in rural areas. “Our main focus is to prepare students for Nationals, for which students, parents and sports functionaries have to play their role”, the Minister said adding that the government would provide every possible support to the organizers of sports events.

 The championship, organized by District Youth Services and Sports office, Baramulla started on August 01 and culminated today with huge participation of students and sports lovers.  As many as 591 boys and 538 girls participated in the month long tournament.The Minister watched the final match played between the teams of Doda and Udhampur districts. Udhampur team won the match.Director General, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. Jehangir Mir also spoke on the occasion. He gave the details regarding the future prospects of the sports activities in the state.Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Mr. Gareeb Das, Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Mtr. Yasha Mudgal, District Youth Service and Sports Officer, Baramulla, Peer Shafeeq Ahmad and other concerned officers, Principals and Zonal Education Officers of various schools were present on the occasion. Besides a large number of students and general public were present on the occasion.Later, mementoes and certificates were distributed among the players who performed the best during the championship.
