The Union Minister for Food Processing Industry, Government of India, Harsimrat Kaur Badal today called upon the society to consider son-daughter equal in every aspect and give women equal rights. The Union Minister said this during a function held to distribute life insurance policies and boota Prasad gift to the women assopiated Nanhi Chhan project.Badal said that as a woman she has always envisioned equal rights for the females. “We should love and respect and daughters. Any kind of discrimination before or after birth of a baby girl is crime,” she said. Batting for a cleaner and greener environment she called upon the women to plant saplings they were being gifted to keep Mother Earth clean and green. She said that in today’s world the main reason behind increasing health problems was thinning out green cover and lack of fresh air. She said that women can contribute better towards maintaining green environment as a mother they knew what nurturing meant.
The Union Minister distributed life insurance under Pradhan Mantri Bima Suraksha Yojana (PMBSY) for a period of 10 years as Rakshabandhan gift in functions held at Raman and Talwandi Sabo. As an elder sister Mrs Badal has paid the premium of all these beneficiaries, who are associated with Nanhi Chhan Foundation project, from her salary enabling them to live a secure life. At Raman she inaugurated the newly laid out park and office of the Municipal Committee Raman. She also inaugurated the new construction done by the irrigation department, Punjab under Sandoha Branch area. She also held a meeting with the municipal councilors of Raman area discussing the completion of projects as well as upcoming projects. The area MLA Mr Jeet Mohinder Singh Sidhu accompanied her.
At Talwandi Sabo she inaugurated the newly laid out Baba Dal Singh Park and nagar panchayat Talwandi Sabo’s office. She also held meeting with the municipal councilors of Talwandi Sabo discussing various projects with them.Prominent among others present at the event included OSD to deputy CM Mr Mohnish Kumar and Mr Harinder Singh Sra, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Dr Basant Garg, SSP Mr Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti, assistant media advisor to deputy CM Mr Harjinder Singh Sidhu, SDM Talwandi Sabo Mr Vineet Kumar and others.
