On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, hundreds of female party cadres, members of social organizations, women from different walks of life, school children, destitute visited the residence of Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh here and tied Rakhis on his wrist and prayed for his well being.

The Deputy Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the visitors, shared greetings with them and wished prosperity in life. Interacting with the visitors, Dr Singh said Raksha Bandhan is a symbol of sacred relation between brother and sister and has great significance in India. “On this occasion we all should take a pledge to work for the welfare, safety and empowerment of women folk in the society,” he said.

He said all the festivals strengthen the bonds of humanity, culture and mutual brother-hood between different communities and faiths and these should be celebrated with traditional and religious fervor.
