The Minister of State for Technical Education, Power and Information, Vikar Rasool has asked the officers to ensure that the people of the State especially those living in rural and hilly areas get adequate supply of electricity especially during the winter months.The Minister was addressing a meeting convened to discuss and address the problems of the people living in the erstwhile Doda district.Member Legislative Council, Mr. Naresh Gupta, Development Commissioner Power, Mr. Asgar Ali, Chief Engineer PDD, Ms. Shahnaz Goni and other senior officers of PDD were present in the meeting.The Minister directed the officers to put in place and effective mechanism by which the consumers get an adequate supply of power. He said that they should synergise their efforts in ensuring that the people living in these areas get the necessary electricity so that the problems being faced by these are mitigated.
Vikar further asked the officers to ensure that the damage to the electric transformers is minimized and wherever they get damaged the same should be repaired within the shortest possible time so that the people do not suffer. He said that the necessary steps should also be taken to get feedback from the areas where the damage to these is maximum.The Minister also asked for taking steps to ensure that the tendency of unscheduled power cuts is stopped and the scheduled for the curtailment should be strictly adhered to.MLC Mr. Naresh Gupta also projected the issues related to the Bhaderwah and its catchment areas and the Minister assured him that they would be redressed to as early as possible.
