The Government is striving to upgrade sports infrastructure in the State for which a comprehensive programme is underway.This was stated by the Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din while inaugurating office building for Bharat Scouts and Guides in the Youth Hostel premises here today for which Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah has released funds out of his Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).The Minister hoped that with the availability of a permanent space, the scouts’ movement in Srinagar would gain momentum and they would undertake many more youth related activities in future.Later, the Minister visited the SK Indoor Stadium and TRC grounds to oversee the pace of works going on there. He directed the executing agencies to complete the works at the earliest so that the sports facilities are thrown open to public. Present on the occasion were Secretary, Sports Council, Mr. Dileep Thusoo, concerned officers and youth associated with Bharat Scouts and Guides.
