Underlining the need for capacity building and strict adherence to the prescribed time lines under the Public Service Guarantee and Right to Information Act, Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Pawan Kotwal said implementation of these Acts in letter and spirit is key to good governance.He said this while chairing a meeting with departmental heads and Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Province who participated via video conference.Dr. Kotwal stressed that the concerned PIOs should ensure that the information sought under the Act is provided in time and the stakeholders are kept well aware about the provisions of the Act and also about the competent authorities to be approached for seeking requisite information.
Exhorting on streamlining the delivery mechanism to make sure prompt services, Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure proper monitoring and digitization of vital information.Dr. Kotwal directed the Deputy Commissioners and concerned officers to ensure that all the orders, circulars and other important details in terms of Section 4(1) (b) of the J&K RTI Act are posted on the official websites and are regularly updated so that general public is kept well informed.He also directed the DCs to take adequate steps to streamline and infuse more transparency in revenue related issues and ensure that fards bear the name of the officer, date of issuance and proper official number.The Divisional Commissioner also directed the officers to indicate their names and dates while signing the orders and endorsements.
