42 hurt injured in LPG Gas cylinder blast

In a tragic incident that took place during a marriage ceremony at Galigard village of Sarthal in Kishtwar District, 42 persons mostly women and children’s got injured a gas cylinder filled with a petro-max caught fire triggered a massive blast.As per the details, after hearing about the incident police party from police post Sarthal immediately rush to the spot and started rescue and relief operation with the help of the local people and shifted 35 injured persons with severe injuries to District Hospital Kishtwar from where 20 critically injured patients where shifted to Government medical college Jammu for advance treatment.According to police the incident took place inside the house of Kewal Krishan son of Kant Ram resident of Galigard Kishtwar where large number of his relatives, friends and family members has been assembled for his marriage ceremony.

“There was a Havan (Special Prayers under Hindu rituals) going on and all of sudden a gas cylinder kept in a veranda caught fire caused a massive blast in which at least 42 persons mostly women and children’s received burn injuries” said a senior police officer at Kishtwar. Police said that beside injury to 42 persons, few people receive minor injuries and did not require any treatment. Police further said that out of 42 injured persons, 41 reported at District Hospital Kishtwar among which 6 persons were discharged immediately while 35 others were admitted in District Hospital Kishtwar.While talking to the media persons, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Dr. Ghulam Mohammed Naqeeb said that 18 persons with severe burn injuries were referred to GMC Jammu for advance treatment by road while two critically injured persons were airlifted. He said that many injured persons reported at District Hospital Kishtwar had injuries on their faces, hands and legs. 

Bearing two patients who were airlifted to Jammu, the condition of all the injured persons is said to be stable.Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Baseer Ahmed Khan along with SP Kishtwar Sanjay Kotwal also visited the District Hospital Kishtwar and monitored the treatment and shifting of the injured persons. He also announced final assistance of Rs. 2000 each to the injured persons out of Red Cross fund.Meanwhile Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori rushed to the District Hospital Kishtwar and interacted with the patients who got injured when a gas cylinder filled with a petro-max caught fire triggered a massive blast in a marriage at Galigad Sarthal some 19km from Kishtwar town and their attendants and assured them all necessary assistance from the Government.Saroori asked the doctors about the status of injured patients and directed them to extend best possible Medicare besides extra care to the injured. He also prayed to Almighty Allah for early recovery of injured ones.
