Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Samoon Wednesday stressed for a need of productive synergy between government and public for the effective implementation of centrally sponsored welfare schemes so that results of development percolate deep down to the grassroots level.Speaking as chief guest at the valedictory function of the three-day Public Information Campaign organised by Press Information Bureau, Srinagar in collaboration with district administration Pulwama, Samoon said the fruits of development can be tasted only with active participation of people in the process of framing the policy and implantation of projects and schemes.
While asking officers to play an active role in translating into action the government’s vision of ensuring development in every nook and corner of the state, he urged upon people to be proactive in ensuring that their area receives full attention of the authorities. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir appreciated whole hearted contribution of all the concerned departments, especially PIB Srinagar and other media units of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for making the event successful. He also presented mementoes and certificates to participating departments, organizations and individuals in the three-day campaign. DDC Pulwama Niraj Kumar was the guest of honour.
As per the format of the programme, experts from different government departments and NGOs delivered lectures on ICDS, canning and food processing, social security schemes and PMGSY. Public Information Campaign is a part of Government of India’s ‘media Outreach Strategy’through which information about various public welfare schemes is provided to people at their doorsteps by adopting multi-media techniques.About 40 stalls were erected by various central and state government departments besides NGOs at District Industries Centre ground Pulwama for all the three days, and people in large number thronged the venue to gather first hand information about welfare schemes and government’s policy and programmes. Besides theme based cultural programmes, lectures were delivered by experts on different themes on all the three days to inform people about the benefits of Central Government’s welfare schemes.The function was inaugurated by Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Awqaf Abdul Rehman Veeri.
On the second day, DDC Pulwama was the chief guest, while district officers of education, social welfare, ICDS, rural development and other departments played an active part in the awareness campaign.Like the first two days, the concluding day also remained abuzz with cultural activities presented by troupes of Song and Drama Division and school children, and large number of people visited the stalls set up by various central and state government departments.
