As reported differences with government has forced Chief Secretary Iqbal Khanday to seek Voluntary Retirement from Services (VRS) only two and a half months before his superannuation, the government is trying hard to convince the senior bureaucrat to relook at his decision.Sources told KNS that a group of senior PDP ministers has called on Chief Secretary at his official chamber in civil secretariat here as part of an effort to convince him to take back his decision of seeking VRS and also to save the government from an embarrassment.Sources added that the ministers including Sports Minister Imran Ansari, Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu and Revenue Minister Javaid Mustafa Mir were instructed by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to talk to Khanday and make him to take back his decision. However, sources added, that the chief secretary has categorically rejected government’s wish for him to continue till the superannuation.

Khanday who applied for VRS last day is miffed by the government for promoting junior officers as seniors during the recent cabinet meeting, sources said.

Khanday, as per sources, has said that he had felt “deeply humiliated” with the government decision of promoting juniors as seniors during a cabinet meeting which he could not attend due to a death of his close relative.CS, as per sources, has also conveyed his displeasure to the visiting ministers about the urgency with which government has promoted the junior officers as seniors.One of the ministers who called on Khanday told  KNS on conditions of anonymity that the chief secretary has categorically rejected of relooking at his decision.
