JCO killed in Pak sniper fire attack in Kupwara

An Army officer was killed in a single sniper attack fired allegedly by Pakistani troops in Nowgam sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.A senior defence ministry official said Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Naib Subidar Krishna Singh (44) of 3 Kumaon regiment was critically injured when Pakistani troops fired at a post in Nowgam sector along the Line of Control (LoC) at 12:30 pm on Tuesday.The JCO, who was hit on the head, was immediately evacuated to nearby MI room where doctors declared him brought dead.Krishna, a resident of Uttrakhand was guarding the Badalpost post near the LoC when the incident occurred.The official said that the soldiers manning the fence also retaliated the fire and when reports last came in, the intermittent exchange of fire was going on.Pertinently, two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers were killed when India and Pakistan armies exchanged gunfire in the same sector on July 05 and July 09 respectively.
