Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that a Committee of engineers would be constituted which would visit Gujarat and Delhi to study the power sector and the distribution network, so that the same can be implemented in the State for ensuring that the consumers get adequate supply of power and transmission and distribution losses are checked.The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing twin review meetings of PDD Department at Jammu the other day and Srinagar today.Principal Secretary Power Development Department, Mr. Sandeep Naik, Chief Engineers PDD, Mr. Ajay Gupta, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Khan and other senior officers were present in the meetings.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government is contemplating to put in place a mechanism by which the power sector in the State would be properly augmented and also ensuring that consumers get requisite supply of electric power. He said that the Committee which would be sent to other States would give the requisite feedback about the power scenario and the measures taken for modernizing the same so that appreciable changes can be introduced in the sector.Dr. Singh directed the officers to ensure that the transformer damages are minimized and put in place a mechanism by which the same can be checked. He said that proper checking squads should be constituted in order to check the power theft if any and necessary action under law should be initiated against the people involved in the same.

While asking the officers to speed up process of revenue realization, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the targets given to every division should be completed within the stipulated time. He said that by registering increase in the revenue collection, we would contribute our bit as a major chunk of annual plan goes in the purchase of power.The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the functioning of the Architect department of the Housing and Urban Development Department.Commissioner/Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Mr. Bipul Pathak, Chief Architect and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.The Deputy Chief Minister directed the architects to incorporate the local elements of the traditional architectural patterns while designing the new buildings for the various Government departments. He also directed the Commissioner Secretary Housing to come up with comprehensive proposal by which the organization can be properly revamped in order to make it one of the premier consulting agencies for the Government and Semi Government departments. 

The Deputy Chief Minister later reviewed the functioning of Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd. (CVPP).Principal Secretary Power, Mr. Sandeep Naik, Managing Director CVPP, Mr. B.R Saraf and other senior officers of PDD attended the meeting.The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers of the organization to speed up work on various prestigious power projects which have been assigned to them so that the State becomes self sufficient in providing electric power to the people. He said that the same would also result in providing much needed employment opportunities to the local youth of the State.Dr. Singh also asked the officers of the corporation to ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated time frame and the bottlenecks if any are removed in consultation with the PDD and other departments.
