Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said there was a need to "sensitise" men about discrimination against women, who had "more qualities".Speaking at a conference on "Gender Parity in Media and Entertainment Sector", organised by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), Javadekar asserted that women have "much more qualities" than men. "There is a need to sensitise men about gender discrimination against women and other related issues. We need to create awareness about women's right for equal opportunity in each and every field through education," Javadekar said.

"More so, as women have much more qualities like compassion, conviction, consistence and courage than men. These are the strengths of women," he added, noting a lot has been lost the world over by not providing enough opportunities and not partnering with women as plenty of talent, energy and capacities have not been utilised.Citing the example of actors like Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut who achieved success "on their own", Javadekar said the film industry's top male actors must be feeling the heat.
