Sukhanandan tours Gurez, take stock of drinking water, irrigation facilities

Says all-round development of remote, hilly areas high on the agenda of the government

Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary has made an extensive tour of far off and border Tehsil Gurez and took stock of drinking water and irrigation facilities in the area.During the tour the Minister visited Markoot, Dawar, Achoora and Barnia, Gund-Gulsheikh, Budogam and Kanzalwan. He inspected WSS and Lift Irrigation Scheme Markoot and directed the concerned engineers to redouble their efforts to ensure completion of on-going schemes before the winter season.The Minister directed the concerned engineers to formulate DPRs for construction of new WSS besides irrigation projects and flood protection bunds in the needy areas of the Sub- Division.Mr Sukhnandan announced Rs 6 lakh for repairs of irrigation canals of Village Achoora and Burnia damaged in the last years’ floods. He instructed the concerned engineers to take necessary step in this regard for immediate repairs of other damaged kuls in the area.

The Minister also held a meeting with the officers at Dawar and reviewed the pace of progress of various on-going projects coming up in the area under core sectors for over all development of this backward tehsil. He asked the concerned authorities to ensure time bound completion of all the under execution projects for the benefit of the people of the area.The Minister also visited the SDH Dawar and took stock of the  functioning of the hospital. He interacted with the patients and enquired about the facilities they are getting in the hospital. He directed the  hospital management to ensure all possible medicare facilities and benefits of several schemes to the people of the area.

During the tour, several deputations met the Minister and apprised the Minister about their basic amenities and developmental needs. The Minister gave patient hearing to them and assured that their genuine developmental needs would be got fulfilled.Responding to the demand of the people of village Gund Gulsheik, The Minister said that a separate WSS would be constructed for the said village to meet out water scarcity. He directed the concerned engineers for formulation of DPR in this regard so that funds would be approved for its early execution.
