The Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council held its meeting under the Chairmanship of MLC, Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta here today, convened to deliberate upon the activities of the Education Department in Jammu pision.

Legislators, Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Magray and Sham Lal were also present on the occasion.The Committee discussed the status of RMSA, SSA and other schemes under implementation in the State.The meeting was informed that 526 school buildings were taken up for construction from 2010 to 2013 under RMSA in the State, out of which 96 buildings have been completed and handed over to the department. It sought detail information report of all ongoing works from the department under RMSA.

The Committee stressed upon the authorities to streamline the system of providing mid-day meals especially in far flung and remote areas of Doda district and sought a detailed report in this regard.The Committee instructed the authorities to implement the transfer policy in vogue, in letter and spirit especially in Jammu district. The Committee directed the authorities to ensure that no general line teacher is transferred during mid-session. The Committee also sought present status and mechanism adopted by the department with regard to text books, uniform, infrastructure for students, etc.The Legislatures also gave their valuable suggestion for further improvement in the functioning of the department.Among others Commissioner Secretary, PWD Mrs. Tanvir Jehan, Secretary, School Education, Mr. H. K. Singh, Director, School Education, Jammu, Mr. Tushar Sharma, Development Commissioner, Works, Mr. J. A. Hamal, MD, JKPCC, Mr. T. R. Bhagat, concerned SEs, CEOs from Jammu pision, Deputy Secretary, Legislative Council, Mr. Ishfaq Ahmed Wani senior officers of concerned departments and the officers of Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
