Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Monday said that all- round development of rural areas was receiving focused attention. He said that State witnessed unprecedented development during last five years of the Coalition government adding that thrust was given to improve basic amenities across the State during this period.Addressing series of public meetings today at Nageenpora, Hakura, Badesgam, Baharana and Mantpora in Dooru, the Minister reaffirmed that being the local representative equal development of all the areas was his priority and no injustice would be done to any area of the Constituency on the developmental front. He assured the people that all their genuine developmental needs would be carried out in a phased manner. Mir said that primary responsibility of the public representatives is to go to the people for determining and addressing their problems through Government agencies.  He asked people to be well informed about their rights and seek out due share in the development process launched by the Government across the State.

Referring to various revolutionary initiatives taken by the government during the past five years for bringing accountability and transparency in administration besides providing good governance and empowerment to the people at the gross root level, the Minister said that Laws like Right to Information Act, Public Services Guarantee Act and Panchayat elections were among the land mark steps towards releasing them. The Tourism Minister asked people to take best advantage of these path breaking initiatives of the government and demand public service from the departments of Power, PHE, CAPD, Revenue, Housing, Transport, etc. in a prescribed time limit fixed for the delivery of each service. The Minister said that people have high hopes with public representatives while asking Panches and Sarpanches to work sincerely for the welfare and development of the people. Meanwhile, the Minister also received appraisal of developmental works under implementation in various areas of Dooru Constituency at an officers meeting here and asked the officers to ensure hassle-free public service to the people in remote areas and be at their beck and call at all times to remove their sufferings.

The Tourism Minister said that people in remote pockets require all the more attention as government is the only means available to them for providing necessary succor particularly at the hour of need. He said availability and distribution of essential commodities and domestic fuel should receive priority. “District Administration should monitor the distribution regularly ensuring that people are receiving supplies without any difficulty”, he said.Mir also underlined the necessity of upgrading basic amenities and improving health care services especially in the remote and hilly areas. He underscored the need for dovetailing efforts and funds available under various schemes for holistic and comprehensive development of the area.
