A meeting of Assurance Committee to examine the action taken report on Forest Department was held under the chairmanship of MLA, Hakim Mohammad Yaseen here today.Legislators, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Mr. Zahoor Ahmed Mir, Mr. Sham Lal Chowdery, Mr. Kamal Arora, Mr. Rajeev Sharma, Mr. Kuldeep Raj, Mr. Gagan Bhagat and Mr. Noor Mohammad Shiekh were present in the meeting.The Chairman asked the concerned for publicizing the date of auctions of timber through print and electronic media so that people know about the date and participate in a big way in purchasing the timber. He also asked the concerned for taking effective measures in protection and conservation of forests. He said that forest department needs to engage the locals while carrying out afforestration or any other related work in the department.Principal Secretary, Forests Rakesh Gupta, Director Soil Conservation, Director Forests Protection Force, Chief IWDP, Chief Conservative of Eco-tourism, Member Secretary, Pollution Board and other senior officers of department attended the meeting.
