The department of Horticulture Samba organized one day Farmers Awareness Camp at Panchyat Sarna (Block Samba) on Monday.MLA Samba Dr. Devinder Manyal was the chief guest on the occasion and inaugurated the camp.More than 100 farmers from various Panchayats including women participated in the awareness camp.Farmers were given awareness about various ongoing departmental schemes and latest farming practices based on suitable climate of the area Chief Horticulture Officer Samba Ajit Kumar Sharma welcomed the Chief Guest and gave stress on the adoption of organic farming, INM/IPM techniques for good production and quality fruit, soil testing, adoption of High density plantation of mango, guava and citrus. Farmers were also given technical guidance about plantation and top working of Bee- keeping in view its importance in Kandi belt of District Samba. The farmers were also made aware about judicious and safe use of pesticides.
The MLA Dr. Devinder Manyal in his speech appreciated the horticulture department for organizing awareness camp in remote village and call for more such camps in future also to benefit farmers. He advised farmers to adopt modern technologies in Horticulture Sector and take benefits of different ongoing schemes.On the occasion an interactive session between resource persons of the department and farmers were held. The farmers posed various queries related the schemes and farming techniques. On spot solution of the queries were answered by the experts of the department, which were mainly regarding schemes and farming techniques besides field problems.As many as 300 nos. of Fruit Plants were also distributed among the farmers free of cost.District Level Subject Matter Specialist (Patho) Vaishno Kant Gupta, Horticulture Development Officer Samba Davinder Singh, BDO Nud, Sarpanch, Panches and other Field functionaries were also present on the occasion.
