Div Com inaugurates Red Cross Mela at Kathua

Two day Red Cross Mela got off to great start which begins with Pomp and revelry at District Sports Stadium here at Kathua today pisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the Mela. Addressing the gathering of the people pisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu who is also Chairman of IRCS Jammu Region highlighted the importance of the Red Cross, said that Red Cross will always play a role of catalyst in bringing spirit of nationalism and integration by serving people during the time of need. He appreciated the school and college students for presenting scintillating performances depicting national integration. 

He lauded the Red Cross Kathua team for organizing well coordinated Mela and appealed the people to come up in numbers to make Mela a mega success. He hailed all the stakeholders for giving their contribution for Red Cross Mela in achieving the moto of awareness and fund raising.Tributes were also paid to the late S.D Singh Ex Executive Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society Kathua for his contribution to the Red Cross.Honorary Secretary, IRCS Jammu Region, Anil Padha said that Indian Red Cross Society is a pioneer organization, rendering selfless philanthropic services for the betterment of the society. He said Kathua district is the first district which has organized the Red Cross mela second consecutive time at such scale and spirit. 

Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Jitendra K Singh appealed the people of Kathua to extend full cooperation by visiting the mela with their friends and families. Several organizations and government departments have displayed their stalls to educate the general masses.Students of different colleges and schools presented a colorful bonanza of cultural items and patriotic songs. Kud Artists depicting Dogra Culture also displayed their talent in folk songs and dance during the inauguration ceremony.Earlier, a rally comprising of cultural troupe and school students presented a pomp show through main markets of the Kathua town which ended at the venue.

Later, pisional Commissioner inaugurated website of “ PARYAS” an initiative of the district administration for Online Public Grievance Monitoring System  to redress the genuine cause of the public at the Headquarter on single call from their respective dwelling to make the working of District Administration more transparent, responsible and accountable. Shantmanu appreciated the efforts of the district administration for the innovative idea like PARYAS. pisional Commissioner also convened the meeting of district officers to review the physical and financial achievements registered under different sectors during the current year. The meeting discussed in detail the projects initiated under various flagship programmes like MGNREGA, IAY, and NRHM etc.DDC presented the detail report of the physical and financial achievements of the district through the power point presentation. A threadbare review of all the line and works departments was also discussed in the meeting p. Com. exhorted upon the officers to complete the work within stipulated time ensuring quality.  He added that department should work in coordination so that liability of work should be completed within target time. He directed CAPD department to ensure adequate ration storage at snow bound areas of the district well in time. p com also chaired the meeting with election officers and staff to oversee the ongoing special summary revision of electoral rolls. Among other SDM Billawar, Basohli, ACR Kathua, ACD Kathua Tehsildar, CPO, XEN’s of PDD, PWD, PHE and District officers of line and works department were also present on the occasion.
