 69th IndependeThe 69th Independence day was today celebrated with patriotic fervor and zeal at Doda, where Minister for Science and Technology and Animal Husbandry, Sajad Gani Lone unfurled the national flag, inspected the guard of honour and took salute at the march past, in which contingents of CRPF, J&K Police, IR 5th Bn, NCC, FPF and school children participated.Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters, the Minister said that the nation owes gratitude to these great leaders, who sacrificed their lives to secure freedom for the country.Affirming that India is known for its unity amidst diversity of religion, region and culture, he said despite these diversities we all should strive hard to maintain communal harmony and take every possible step to ensure that the benefits of the development works percolate down to each and every strata of society.

Highlighting the major ongoing and completed developmental projects in Doda, he said under PMGSY, huge road network has been created in the district. Under this scheme, out of 98 sanctioned road projects, work on 75 roads is going on which has resulted in construction of 469 km road legth in the District. Expressing happiness on the increase of road connectivity percentage from 5 percent to 52 percent during the period 2002 to 2015, he said the Government of India has recently also sanctioned vital road projects like Doda-Lal Draman, Bharat-Keshwan and Doda-Ghat roads to be constructed under CRF.About 47 Bridges constructed by PWD(R&B) have been thrown open to public which include vital Thatri-Dhrabshalla Bridge connecting the huge population of Siraj area, the Minister added. He said recently Government of India has given its nod to the construction of Sudh Mahadav-Marmat-Doda Road, which will provide a safe, shortest and alternate route to the Chenab valley.  Work on the Ganpat Bridge is also going on and it will be completed by March 2016, the Minister further added.

Under RGGVY, out of the 171 un-electrified villages, 169 have been electrified in the district and additional 498 hamlets are proposed to be electrified in the next phase.He said Coalition Government is committed to provide employment to educated youth and in this direction in District Doda about 150 teachers have been regularized, 80 new ReT Teachers have been recruited and 396 teachers have been appointed through SSB besides 35 school buildings have been completed this year.He said in the recent District Development Board meetings, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed announced a International Standard “Skill Development Institute” for Doda which will impart job oriented skills to the unemployed youth and create new economic avenues in the District besides Chief Minister has also ordered to identify land for the satellite university campus at Doda which will provide higher education avenues to the students at their doorsteps, Minister said.

In medical sector, he said Rs 3.50 crore has been sanctioned for compensation to the land owners whose land has been acquired for medical college at Ghat Doda and work on the project will be started soon.On the occasion,a splendid colorful cultural programme was also presented by the school children, depicting the diverse and unique cultural heritage of the Jammu and Kashmir. Similar functions were also held at all the sub divisions and Tehsils of the District where respective SDMs and Tehsildars unfurled the national flag.ce Day : Sajad Gani Lone unfurls tricolor at Doda
