Mir flags-off farmers for study tour

Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir today flagged off a group of 50 progressive farmer’s mostly comprising unemployed youth for a study tour to Punjab and Himachal Pradesh from Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo this morning.During the weeklong tour organized by Agriculture Department under the flagship programme, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), the farmers will visit Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana and Doraha Chowdhary Sarwan Kumar Agriculture University Pallampur and Bee Research Station at Nagrota in Himachal Pradesh to get acquainted with the latest techniques being used for boosting the Apiculture activities.

Interacting with the farmers, Mr. Mir advised them to take full advantage of this opportunity, learn more and use the techniques practically in the field, adding that Government will provide all assistance to them. He said similar type of tours will be organised in future as well.

The Minister said that there is vast scope for the farmers associated with apiculture like Bee keeping, Bee Wax, Bee Venom, Royal Jelly and Propolis which has great value in the international market.Besides, Director Agriculture Jammu, Mr. Ajay Khajuria a large number of farmers were present on the occasion.
