To ensure transparency and strengthen the grievances redressal mechanism, Minister for CA&PD, Ch Zulfkar Ali today directed all district heads of CA&PD to make a zone-wise directory of the sale depots indicating details of dealers, location of depots and number of consumers and submit it before 30th August.In order to rationalize the allocation of food grains, the Minister sought list of existing sale centers as government is in the final phase of arranging ration quota for the consumers. The Minister gave these directions, while chairing a meeting to review the status of updation of the ration list based on 2011 census. He asked Director CA&PD Kashmir to submit the physical verification report of beneficiaries at the earliest. “Government has taken various reformative measures to improve efficiency of the current Public Distribution System and to address various challenges such as leakages, diversion of food grains, elimination of fake and bogus ration cards beside putting a leak proof monitoring system in place”, the Minister said.
Emphasizing on the need to open new sale depots to ensure doorstep deliver of foodgrains, Zulfkar directed the concerned authorities to conduct a survey regarding opening of new sale depots with a minimum of 250 and maximum 499 households and submit the proposal before 30th August.The Minister instructed the concerned authorities to ensure deployment of adequate personnel in the newly created Tehsils, till fresh recruitments are made. He urged them to refer all vacant posts to the Services Selection Board at the earliest to overcome the shortage of staff in the department.Meanwhile, he directed Assistant Directors mills to inspect the (Mills) falling in their jurisdiction regularly and ensure that only quality flour reaches to consumers.Extensive deliberations were held on various issues including installation of electronic weighing machines, complaint cum suggestion boxes, display of sign boards depicting daily stock position in CA&PD sale depots, holding of price fixation committee meetings, status of distribution of relief ration, physical verification of the updated list etc.Secretary, CA&PD, Director CA&PD Kashmir, Assistant Directors beside other officers attended the meeting.
