A court magistrate court in the capital city Dhaka, in a verdict, on a Facebook post, has handed down three years of imprisonment to Jahangirnagar University teacher Muhammad Ruhul Amin Khandaker . in the status, the teacher had made a comment on the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.The court also fined the teacher Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six more months more in prison. The teacher, who is now in Australia, is a lecturer of the university’s Department of Information and Technology.Judicial Magistrate Nazmul Haque Shyamal of Dhaka pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.According to the case statement, Facebook page, Ruhul Amin had made a comment on the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on August 13, 2011.On September 2, 2011, the-then assistant superintendent of police (Savar circle) Monwar Hossain filed a case against Khandakar with the court.Two days later, the case was recorded with Savar Police Station. Police submitted charge sheet to the court on January 29, 2012. The court indicted Kandakar in absentia on April 23, 2014.In Bangladesh, several laws were introduced to resist the opponent views that go against the government. Many people, including noted journalist Mahmudur Rahman were detained for their openion against the government.
