Marine and Army soldiers ‘enthral’ school children by their skills

Army Wednesday said that as part of Indian Independence Day Celebrations, a display of commando skills was organized along Pohru River in North Kashmir’s  Sopore town.The programme was organized by by 5 Sector RR under the aegis of Kilo Force. The event was witnessed by over 400 children from various schools of Sopore town.In a statement to CNS, the Army said that during  the display, the elite Marine  Commandos of the Indian Navy displayed their skills of slithering and rappelling down from a helicopter and undertaking underwater stealth operations. They also carried out diving display to rescue a drowning person.

The young school children according to statement lauded and cheered for the trained commandos. “The aim of the event was to motivate young children to join the Defence Forces and celebrate the India’s 69th Independence Day.”The Army said that besides the display, a drawing and painting competition for the children was also conducted at Mazbug and prizes were distributed among participants. The event was Presided over by Brig Vikram Nagpal, Commander of Mazbug Army Cantonment. (CNS)
