A delegation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) workers from Mehjoor Nagar and its adjoining areas called on Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Gardens & Parks at civil secretariat here today.During the meeting, the delegation comprising Haji Ali Mohammad Bagaw, Malik Asif Noor, Ghulam Ahmad Dagga, Rafiq Ahmad Kashtkari and Sardar Nanee Singh, submitted a memorandum related to the overall development of Mehjoor Nagar and its adjoining areas in Amirakadal constituency. The delegation stressed on improvement/upgradation of road infrastructure in the area.Referring to the reports carried out by a section of press with regard to Mehjoor Nagar and its adjoining areas, Bukhari said the same is the handiwork of defeated and disgruntled elements who envy the developmental agenda that has been chalked out and is being implemented in Amirakadal constituency.
Responding to the demand for construction/upgradation of various roads in Mehjoor Nagar and Natipora, the Minister apprised the delegation that the government has already approved macadamization plan for the entire Amirakadal constituency and in most of the areas the work is going on in full swing.He said the government plans to go for macadamization of almost all areas of Amirakadal as the constituency was the worst hit in last year’s devastating floods that led to collapse of its road infrastructure.
Regarding improvement and upgradation of Mehjoor Nagar to Natipora road and inner links in various colonies like Gulshan Abad, Sadaat Colony, Chinar Colony, Iqbal Colony etc, Bukhari assured the delegation that all possibilities will be explored to take up these roads for improvement and upgradation at the earliest.Besides these roads, the Minister assured the delegation that the government will ensure standard basic amenities for these areas which were neglected to the hilt by the successive National Conference regimes in the past.Bukhari said Amirakadal constituency figures in top priorities of the government and the government has already started implementing its comprehensive plan for infrastructure building wherein people will be provided quality roads, safe drinking water, network of street lights, healthcare, educational, sports and recreational facilities for its people.
