Awami Itihad Party (AIP) today started its 50 hour long sit in for seeking IIT, IIM &IIMC for Kashmir Valley. The participants of the sit in led by MLA Langate Er Rashid today started peaceful sit-in in front of Civil Secretariat at 10 AM. Talking to media persons on the occasion Rashid said, “Kashmiri are always being treated as beggars and second class citizens by New Delhi and the political and social leadership of Kashmiris needs to rise above personal interests to tell New Delhi that you can’t always take us for granted.”

“If GoI could easily agree to demand of Jammuities to establish AIIMS at Jammu besides IIM and IIT already approved for the Jammu province, how could it treat the larger province of Kashmir which includes Ladakh also unattended and unaddressed. It is high time that Kashmiri leaders must unite and fight for the genuine rights of Kashmiri people including establishing IIT and IIM in Kashmir,” he added.Rashid said that today’s sit in is just to remind both main stream and pro-resistance parties that you can’t run away from very basic, important and real issues of Kashmiri people by giving one excuse or the other. He appealed all political parties to shun their differences and stop Kashmiris from “facing worst humiliation at the hands of New Delhi.”Rashid expressed hope that all Kashmiris will get united and not scum further to New Delhi’s ‘colonial attitude.’
