Maintaining health is the top most priority sector of government, Minister for health and Medical Education Choudhary Lal Singh today asked concerned authorities to ensure further improvement by providing modern facilities in every health institution of the State.The Minister was addressing after inaugurating new C. T plant at G B Pant hospital today.He said that G. B Pant hospital being the only health institution of paediatrics in the valley deserves special attention, adding that more such machinery and modern gadgets would be planted in the health during current fiscal.The Minister said government is putting all out efforts to further improvement system by providing infrastructure and human resource to rural and urban areas. He said initiative has been taken that doctors shall be allowed to leave for training purposes by rotation and assured  that every hospital in each constituency will be developed as modern hospital with all modern facilities available.

The Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, PDD, Housing and urban development, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Secretary Health Dr.M.K Bhandari, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar Mr. Farooq Ahmed Lone, Principal, Govt. Medical College, Srinagar Mr. Rafiq Ahmed Pampori, Director Health Service, Mr. Sameer Mattoo, Director NRHM, Director Family Welfare, Controller Drug, J&K, Medical Superintendents of SMHS and G.B. Pant hospitals and other concerned officers of the health.The Minister had also a meeting with hospital administration and received a brief from Medical Superintendent, Mr. Shafaqat Kahn.

The Minister expressed satisfaction about the improvement in working culture of the hospital. However he urged upon them to work with more dedication and coordination as working in hospital is paramount to machinery work.The Minister also gave away awards to the Security and Safaiwalas who have performed satisfactory job in concerned fields during the month. The Minister assured that all officials’ performance shall be rewarded likewise.Referring to the government commitment of developing transparency in the system the Minister directed for E-tendering in every construction work and purchase of medicines and equipments.
