Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sukhnandan Kumar today visited flood affected villages of Pheyang, Spituk, Upper Leh, Saboo, Zanak-Mane Choglamsar, Stok, Chuchot Yokma, Sakti and Chemdey in Leh. He was accompanied by Member Parliament Thupstan Tsewang, DC Leh, Saugat Biswas, SSP Leh Sunil Gupta and other officers.At Pheyang, the Minister directed SE, PWD, Leh to prepare and submit a DPR for construction of motorable steel bridge at Chosgo and Morobog at the earliest. He also directed the Xen R&B for early restoration of Pholong road.The Minister assured rehabilitation of all the affected families who suffered severe damages to their houses and agriculture lands. He directed the Revenue department to submit a complete report of the damages caused to residential houses, agriculture land and standing crops for early release of relief. The Minister also directed Xen I&FC for early restoration of irrigation khuls and head-works to save the remaining standing crops.

MP Thupstan Chhewang appealed district administration to work promptly on the restoration of water supply in the affected villages and to ensure drinking water supply through tankers meanwhile. He demanded timely release of funds for permanent restoration works.Later, in the evening the Minister assured to provide all possible assistance in relief and restoration works. He said that ration and other necessary items will be supplied by air services today for some 25 families marooned in the area. Likewise, he assured to conduct air survey in Nubra region which is cut off from Leh because of heavy rainfall and mud-slide to assess the damages caused in the valley.
