Police have launched a manhunt to nab the truck driver who hails from South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and the driver according to the police had dropped the two militants responsible for Udhampur attack on BSF convoy near Samroli. A top police official on condition of anonymity told CNS that during the interrogation, the captured militant from Faisalabad Pakistan Kasim alias Usman alias Naveed revealed that both he and his accomplice were brought to Kulgam by a truck driver.The captured militant revealed that, “they had night halt in the truck between Patnitop and Kud and travelled towards Samroli Wednesday morning. The truck driver dropped the militants at Narsu and returned. They also had tea at a dhaba at Narsu before launching the strike. The militants, had crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara sector of Kashmir about two months back and were staying with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commanders at different places,” he said.
The police official said that all efforts are on to track and nab the truck driver. “A special police team has been constituted to find out how many trucks passed through Jammu-Srinagar highway on the day and day before the attack,” he said. (CNS)
