Students To Be Sensitised About Environment And Wild Life Protection: Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema

The Punjab Education Department has decided to educate the students regarding Environment and Wild Life protection so as to conserve natural habitat and environment in the students. The department would execute this plan in collaboration with the renowned NGO ‘Nature Conservation Society’ which has been working for the wild life protection. It was disclosed by Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab while chairing meeting of education department and representatives of Nature Conservation Society here today.Dr. Cheema stressed that it is the need of hour that besides formal education the students must be made aware about the surrounding they live in and also for the protection of wild life. He said that healthy environment is imperative for the overall development of the society so in order to conserve the natural flour and fauna and wild life a sense of responsibility toward nature must be inculcated among the students.

Divulging the various activities that would be executed in this regard he said that special lecture and quiz competition would be organised in schools on the theme of Environment and Wild Life protection. During these lectures apart from the teachers of the education department resource persons of Nature Conservation Society would interact with the students and educate them about the role of healthy environment for the human development. These activities would also be replicated during Block and District level Science fairs.Prominent among others who were present in the meeting included DPI (Secondary Education) Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol, DPI (Elementary Education) Mr. Harbans Singh Sandhu, Representatives of Nature Conservation Society Mr. Gurmit Singh, IFS (Retd), Mr. Sukhdarshan Likhi, IPS (Retd) and Mr. B.S.Gurm, Director, SCERT Mr. Sukhdev Singh Kahlon and Deputy Director Dr. Ginni Duggal.
