In a joint statement senior Congress leaders Sunday said termed the ‘negative’ and ‘divisive’ role being played by the ‘deadwood’ and expelled leaders who issue unnecessary statements to seek attention.Taking a dig at such elements, the Congress leader’s which include, Vice President JKPCC and MLA G. M. Saroori, MLA Haji Abdul Rashid, MLA Mohammad Amin Bhat, MLA Usman Majid, MLA Gulzar Ahmed Wani, MLC G.N. Monga, MLC Naresh Gupta, MLC Sham Lal Bhagat, General Secretary S. S. Channi, Gen Secretary Hilal Shah, Gen Secretary Shoaib Nabi Lone and Org and Media Publicity Secretary Salman Nizami, Sr Cong leader Sheikh Mujeeb, Anil Chopra Distt President Jammu, said, “The need of the hour is to play a responsible role to unite, not divisive role to disunite. Present generation of Jammu and Kashmir wants its basic issues of employment, development and opportunities addressed.”
“Every day when I read the newspapers, I find many stories written on the divide within Congress but I want to ask the media that where is the group? The Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir is one,” Vice President J&K Congress G. M. Saroori asserted.The leaders said the trouble makers have been expelled and have no right to interfere in party related matters. “The Congress is working hard by raising the general demands of the people under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni and Ghulam Ahmed Mir. We can’t afford to let our people down at this crucial juncture of history,” they added.
Lashing out on the expelled leader Abdul Gani Vakil, the leaders said, “He (Vakil) became MLC and Cabinet Minister only because of the Congress. Personally nobody knows him on ground and he even cannot win a Sarpanch election. After failing to explain his position the Congress had already fired him from the party fold which doesn’t endorse the indiscipline.”“He (Vakil) is a traitor and trying to be opportunist. As the BJP and PDP govt has totally been exposed and failed; they now are busy in spreading news of groupsim in the Congress. Both BJP and PDP leaders are aware of the fact that Congress has now got tremendous support from the people to expose the present govt,”they said.The Congress leaders alleged that the BJP and PDP played the card of communal polarization by using religion to fight elections.
