Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution & Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali reviewed the implementation of various welfare schemes for Tribals at a high level meeting here today. He also visited Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel at Prichoo Pulwama to take stock of the facilities there.Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Niraj Kumar briefed the Minister about the developmental works under tribal sub-plan as also regarding the stock and supply position in the district.The Minister had a detailed discussion on achievements registered under various schemes besides deliberating on multi-pronged strategies to further improve the implementation of developmental programmes.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister said socio-economic development of weaker sections of the society is the priority of the government adding various innovative schemes have been launched to cater to the needs of under-privileged communities.Zulfkar exhorted upon the officers to ensure uplift of downtrodden people besides utilizing funds judiciously for welfare of deserving sections of the state.The Minister emphasized upon the officers monitoring the development projects to ensure that the benefits percolate to the grassroots level. He instructed that adequate publicity be given to welfare schemes especially in rural and hilly areas for ensuring maximum benefits to the weaker sections of the society.Zulfkar directed the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama to frame a committee under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama for destroying rotten food-grains lying in CA&PD god-owns within 10 days.MLA, Pulwama, MLA Pampore, MLC Zaffar Manhas, Director CA&PD, Abdul Rashid War, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and senior officers of the district were also present at the meeting.
