The identity cards of the militants responsible for the attack on police party in Mirgund area of Pattan town in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have proved fake as according to police initial investigation has revealed that no such persons with such identity as shown on Identity cards exist in Sopore and Bandipora. The two militants who attacked police party in which three cops and a driver were injured have left their ‘fake’ identity cards on the spot of the incident.  “One identity card shows the address of a militant as Banay Mohalla Bandipora and for another it shows he is the resident of Sopore town. “Both the identity cards are fake as no persons by such names and addresses exist in the district,” said a police official.

SHO, Police Station Pattan, Muhammad Saleem and two other police officials, Dilshad Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad, are currently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for advanced treatment in 92 Base Hospital here. The driver of the Tavera vehicle (JK 01 Q-8792) Bilal Ahmed Gojri was also injured in the attack.“Initial investigation has revealed that militant had no plan to carry out any attack in Pattan town. They probably were on way to Srinagar. They struck after the vehicle they were travelling in was intercepted by police near Mirgund where they were asked to reveal their identity cards. The militants in a bid to escape from the spot, fired indiscriminately upon police party,” DIG Police North Kashmir Range Gareeb Das told CNS adding that all efforts are on to nab the assailants.  (CNS)
