Empowered Committee Approves Rs. 276 Crore Terry Towel Mega Project

Resolves Pending Issues Of 10 Mega Projects Already Cleared By EC,Promoters Of Mega Projects Asked To Furnish Quarterly Reports To Update Industries Department

The Empowered Committee on mega projects today approved Rs. 276 crore Terry Towel manufacturing Mega Project to be set up by M/s. SEL Textiles Limited in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Nawanshehar) district. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the Empowered Committee chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here at CMO this morning.  Disclosing this here today the spokesperson of the Chief Minister's Office said that this mega project to be set up over an area of 125 acre would generate a direct employment potential for 1100 and indirect for 5500 persons.The spokesperson further said that the empowered committee also gave its nod to resolve various pending issues related to 10 Mega projects, which had already been approved by the committee.  These projects included Nahar Spinning Mills, Malerkotla, Sportking India Ltd., Bathinda, Vardhman Special Steels Ltd, Ludhiana, Wazir Singh Yarns Pvt. Ltd., Amritsar, NDK Hotels & Resorts Ltd., Dalhausi Road, Gurdaspur, PR Infrastructures Ltd., Amritsar Ludhiana Integrated Textile Park Ltd., Consortium of M/s Penguin Builtech Pvt. Ltd. & Veer Builders Pvt. Ltd., Amritsar and Chadha Sugars & Industries Ltd.The empowered committee also approved to continue the department of Industries & Commerce as nodal agency for the processing of integrated sugar complex cases under the integrated sugar complex policy in view of its vast experience to handle such projects. The committee also reviewed the status of mega projects and it was decided that all the promoters of the mega projects should be asked to furnish quarterly reports with regard to progress and the investments made in land, building and machinery to the department of Industries and concerned General Manager District Industries Centre so as to have regular input about the investments coming on ground. Prominent amongst those present in the meeting included Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Finance Minister Paminder Singh Dhindsa, Tourism & Jail Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Industries & Commerce Minister Anil Joshi, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Industries & Commerce NK Sharma,  Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh, Financial Commissioner Revenue NS Kang, Financial Commissioner Development GS Sandhu, Financial Commissioner Taxation CS Srivastva, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr.SK Sandhu, AR Talwar, Principal Secretary Finance & Planning Satish Chandra, Principal Secretary Local Govt. Suresh Kumar Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce, Secretary Power Anirudh Tiwari, Principal Secretary to Deputy CM PS Aujla and Director-cum-Secretary Industries SS Bains, .
