Maintaining that the Government has ensured the completion of several prestigious projects undertaken for ensuring the holistic development of the State, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today said certain political parties having ulterior motives for trying to negate the achievements registered by them by spreading lies and falsehood.The Minister was addressing a Panchayat Sameelan at Dak Bungalow Khanabal in the district Anantnag which was attended by Panchs, Sarpanchs and people from all walks.Minister of State for Power and Rural Development and Power, Mr. Vikar Rasool, Member Parliament Anantnag, Dr. Mehboob Beig, MLCs Mr. Abdul Majid Bhat, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmad, District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Ex-legislator Mr. Altaf Ahmad Kaloo, Additional District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.

Referring to the development initiatives of the Government, the Minister said that the work on 4-lanning of the National Highway has been fast paced besides the work on various prestigious developmental initiatives undertaken by the Government in Health, Education, Power and other sectors has also been accelerated so that they are completed within the shortest possible time for dedicating the same to the public. Sagar said several other schemes have also been introduced which have resulted in elevating the socio-economic profile of the people living in rural and far flung areas besides ensuring the much needed employment to the people at their doorsteps. He said we have also put in an effective mechanism for ensuring that these schemes are implemented fully and the benefit reaches the targeted populace.

While referring the empowerment of the people at the grass root levels, the Minister said that by putting in place a vibrant Panchayati Raj system, the participation of the Panchs and Sarpanchs has been ensured in implementation and formulation of various welfare schemes undertaken for the people. “A senior officer of the rank of the Additional District Development Commissioner has been nominated as Nodal Officer for monitoring the orders of empowerment of the Panchayati Raj representatives and strict action would be initiated against the erring officials”, he added.The Minister of State for RDD, Mr. Vikar Rasool while speaking on the occasion termed the holding of Panchayati Raj elections as watershed in the history of the State said that they have been adequately empowered and Panchs and Sarpanchs are involved in the implementation of the various developmental programmes thereby involving them in day to day governance.

Vikar while referring to the various developmental schemes undertaken by the Government said that the sustained development of all the three regions has been ensured. He said that all the left over un-electrified villages would be electrified soon under RGGVY Phase-II so that the back log gets completed.The Member Parliament Dr. Mehboob Beig while speaking on the occasion highlighted the various achievements registered by the government in different sectors. Legislators Mr. Abdul Majid Bhat and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri also addressed the Sameelan and asked the Panchayati Raj representatives for active involvement in implementation of various developmental schemes.
