A meeting cum sensitization programme for block and zonal officers was held here today. The programme was organized by State Resource Center in collaboration with District administration Ganderbal. The meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Showkat Aijaz, decided to launch basic literacy programme under Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) in the district at the earliest.Project officer, State Resource Centre while sensitizing the officers about Saakshar Bharat Mission said that one of the main objectives of the mission is to make the adult illiterates literate.The DDC directed the concerned authorities to identify villages with lower literacy rates in Kangan and Lar tehsils where literacy programme under SBM will be started by State Resource Center in coming days.
The DDC directed the Chief Education Officer and concerned ZEOs to identify the schools in Kangan and Lar where training will be provided to the adult illiterates under the programme.Mr. Showkat stressed upon the concerned officers to involve village Level Committees into the programme and ensure that people are sensitized and mobilized to participate in the programme and make it successful.Among others CPO Ganderbal, Principal Diet Ganderbal, CEO Ganderbal, Project officer SRC, Deputy CEO Ganderbal, and Programme associates SRC were present in the meeting.
