Senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer and Additional Director General (Media and Communication) Press Information Bureau, Srinagar, Obaidur Rahman superannuated from 38-years long government service on Friday.In this regard, an impressive function was held at Press Information Bureau, Srinagar office to give warm farewell to Rehman. The function was presided over by Ravinder Singh, Director, (Northern Region) Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh, who came all the way from Chandigarh to wish good luck to  Rahman. Others who attended the function include Shafiq Ahmad Qurashi, Deputy Director Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, AD (News) Radio Kashmir, Srinagar, Ghulam Abbas, AD (M&C) PIB Srinagar, Tariq Ahmad Rather AD (News) RNU AIR, Sunil Koul M&CO PIB Jammu, Sikandar Qureshi, in-charge DFP Srinagar, Aamir Amin, IA PIB Srinagar and Shabir A Dar, IA PIB Srinagar besides other staff  of PIB Srinagar.

Rahman joined the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in 1978 in the Central Monitoring Service (AIR) in Shimla. Since then he has served at various positions in different departments coming under ministry of I&B like Directorate of Field Publicity, All India Radio and Press Information Bureau.

The contribution to the departments he has served is considered to be exemplary and exceptional. Known for his honesty, dedication, humility and professionalism,  Rahman will be highly missed by his peers, colleagues and subordinates. The entire I&B fraternity has wished him good luck for the life ahead. (KNS)
