With cases of diabetes rising in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, the state government has ordered free tests for the disease in all state hospitals, an official said on Friday.While 100 pathological tests were already free for the poor at all state hospitals, orders have now been issued to make free, both fasting and post prandial (PP) sugar tests.An order to this effect has been issued by the principal secretary (health) Arvind Kumar.The new order comes after an amendment was made in the earlier order where only one test -- fasting -- was free of cost. A recent study by a group of eminent diabetologists had inferred that the menace of diabetes is catching up very fast in the state, cutting across age groups.
