A ‘hapless’ and wailing petrol pump owner from Batamaloo locality of Srinagar city who runs a filling station North Kashmir’s Pattan town Wednesday alleged that officers from Chanapora police chowki has been harassing him and from past couple of days have been threatening him of dire consequences in case he fails to report at the police chowki.The petrol pump owner Abdul Aziz appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and said that on the behest of one Sakib Rehman, Chanapora Police Chowki has been pressuring him to report at police chowki despite the fact the area where he lives or works does not fall in their jurisdiction. “I own a fuel station at National Highway Pattan Baramull from past 16 years. Through one M/S Tehran Motors I had an indirect business dealing with Sakib Rehman, a resident of Karan Nagar. Some transactions between me and Sakib are yet to be settled and I am ready to settle it with him once for all. But he (Sakib Rehman) is pressurizing me through police chowki Chanapora which is beyond their jurisdiction and I am being threatened by the police personnel to attend the police station,” he told CNS.
He alleged that he has been receiving continuous phone calls from a police officer. “The officer is telling me to pay money to Sakib otherwise i will face music. On Wednesday morning a police party from Chanapora Chowki arrived at my house in my absence. I came here and I will knock at the doors of IGP Kashmir. From past many days i as well as my family are under tremendous mental pressure and I appeal higher authorities to take cognizance of the case,” he said. When contacted SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar told CNS that he would certainly look into the matter. Meanwhile, a police official from Saddar Police Station said that the complainant hails from Lal Nagar Chanapora and only after acting upon the complaint, the petrol pump owner is being called to police chowki Chanapora.
