Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has asked the Jammu and Kashmir Housing   Department (JKHB) to gear up to renovate and maintain  recreational parks in the Housing Colonies within the urban pockets of the State.The Minister during his tour to ChanniHimmat Sector-5 and 7, asked the Housing department to personally monitor the ongoing projects in Housing Colonies across the State. The Minister was accompanied by Managing Director JKHB Mr. Ram Pal Sharma.The Minister called upon the people to cooperate with JKHB in maintaining the recreational parks in their respective colonies. He urged them not to put debris in and around the recreational parks. He said Government was committed to develop healthy environment in the urban cities by developing greener patches in the open spaces, adding that for this purpose, a comprehensive plan has been prepared to develop the recreational parks with facilities like seating, drinking water, illumination, walkways, landscaping and fencing. He called upon the people to avoid littering inside the parks and help in maintaining cleanliness.The Minister said the Government is making all-out effort to beautify the open spaces by developing walkways or recreational parks to make the city more appealing. He called upon the people to utilise such spots by going for morning and evening walks. He said exercise and walk was a natural mood elevator and helps in promoting feelings of happiness.Bhalla said walking is the easiest and safest way for most people to re-energizes their bodies and burn away the harmful effects of stress.
