Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam reiterated his direction to Revenue officers to keep tab on conversion of agriculture land for non-agriculture purpose in their respective jurisdiction.Chairing a meeting of Revenue officers here Friday evening, the Deputy Commissioner sensitized Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars about the urgency involved in containing land conversion, saying that land resources constitute prime sector in pushing up GDP of the state and bringing prosperity. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars besides Headquarter Assistant attended the meeting.The Deputy Commissioner called for activating field functionaries along with Numberdars and Chowkidars from whom, he said inputs should be sought on regular basis. “Any official found aiding or abetting in land conversion will be dealt with sternly.” he cautioned, reminding that High Court is monitoring the progress on this account on monthly basis. Jahangir also impressed upon the officers to activate Revenue Courts and ensure hearing twice a week. This, he said is instrumental in the dispensation of justice and resolution of land disputes. He said holding of Revenue Courts will significantly decrease litigations to the mutual interest of the land owners.
