A day long vegetable grower’s interaction camp was held at Sopore. On the occasion the Minister Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir said that government is keen to provide every possible assistance for the upliftment of growers’ economical conditions by providing various farmers initiative friendly schemes. He said that Baramulla and Sopore town will be brought vegetable urban clusters. Minister advised farmers to come forward and coordinate with Agriculture department for successful implementation of urban cluster scheme. He urged growers to adopt modern scientific techniques for boosting vegetable production so that unemployed youth will be involved in setting up of their income generating units in agriculture and allied sectors.

The Minister directed the officers of the Agriculture and Revenue departments to identify the location for establishment of Sabzi Mandi for vegetable growers at Sopore. He said that main aim of interaction with the vegetable growers is to redress the difficulties faced by them and put every effort for upliftment of farming community .He impressed upon officers and field functionaries of Agriculture department to reduce the gap between lab to land and provide high technology at their door steps.The Minister was informed by the Director Agriculture Kashmir that 2500 hectares of land has been covered under vegetable clusters scheme resulting in the production to the tune 2,50,000 quintals of vegetable, he said under urban cluster scheme Sopore and Baramulla will be provided high breed vegetable seeds, Irrigation pumps and other Agricultural instruments.Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Joint Director Agri (M) Sopore and Chief Agri officer, Baramulla, besides large number of vegetable growers were also present on the occasion.
