CBI registers 14th FIR in Vyapam case

The CBI on Thursday registered a fresh FIR and two preliminary inquiries in connection with its ongoing probe into the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.The First Information Report was registered against 38 people related to allegations on illegalities committed in the Madhya Pradesh Junior Food Supplies Officer and Inspector vis-a-vis weights and measurements recruitment examination conducted by Vyapam in 2012.The Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) registered the FIR under charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, IT Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and the Madhya Pradesh Recognized Examination Act."The then controller of examinations (Vyapam) Pankaj Trivedi and then system analyst Nitin Mohindra have been named in the FIR," said a CBI official.

In its first preliminary inquiry, the central agency started its probe in the alleged unnatural death of Ramendra Singh Bhadoriya, a 29-year-old resident of Kanchmeel in Gwalior, who died mysteriously on January 8, 2015.The second preliminary inquiry was registered over the alleged unnatural death of Deepak Jain, a 24-year-old resident of New Colony area in Shivpuri district, on February 1, 2014, in Gwalior.In both cases, inquest proceedings were conducted by Gwalior police.The CBI earlier registered 13 FIRs and launched five preliminary inquiries in the scam into the Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam).The Supreme Court on July 9 handed over the Vyapam cases to the central agency for investigation.More than 40 people linked with the scam have died, under mysterious circumstances.
