The Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, while presiding over the Convocation of Chandigarh Group of Colleges Landran, exhorted the students, faculty members and professors of the Chandigarh Group of colleges to embark on a goal-oriented research and teaching which would enable Punjabi youth to take up the challenges of the State leading to national development.Congratulating the students who received degrees in today’s Convocation, Prof. Solanki urged the students to imbibe the concept of 3(S) in their daily lives. He said Skill, Scale and Speed, all three elements have special significance in student career. He said for overall development you require skilled knowledge along with vide scale scope and speed to attain all heights in their respective career. He said another aspect which was very important for students was personality development and positive attitude.

Prof. Solanki said that 21st century was declared as century of Development and without Technology development is not possible. Therefore in other words it was a century of Technology.  He said today while giving degrees and medals to meritorious students, he saw that  maximum medals were won by girl students, which means that besides century of technology and development we can call this century as century of women also.Appreciating the achievements of Chandigarh group of Colleges for achieving National recognition for imparting quality education and placements, the Governor said that as we expand the system we need to make sure that the standards set by our existing good institutions such as Chandigarh Group of Colleges serve as great benchmarks for the new institutions to come.

The Governor expressed that the institution was providing a complete, meaningful and relevant education to the youth of Punjab and the neighbouring States. He stressed upon using technologies which are relevant to the conditions in which we live and needed by larger number of the people.The Governor exhorted the students that in this competitive age, focus should be on enhancing capabilities and confidence to achieve excellence through commitment, vision, determination and hard work. He asked the students to build high character values along with education.Describing, the faculty of Chandigarh Group of Colleges as instruments of change, the Governor, called upon academicians, educationists and intellectuals to develop action-oriented and progressive programmes, to encourage youth to achieve academic brilliance. He said institutions should continuously learn, improve and upgrade their knowledge, to face the emerging challenges of globalization.

Describing, Education as a great social leveler, Prof. Solanki said that education alone can aim at making our children capable of becoming responsible, productive and useful members of society. He said education is the key ingredient that brings such a transformation and value inculcation that your whole life changes.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman Chandigarh Group of College and Chancellor Chandigarh University, Sh. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, Chandigarh Group of Colleges and Dr. K.N. Pathak, Chairperson Board of Governor, Chandigarh Group of Colleges.
