Jumat-ul-Vida - the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan - was observed in all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir with complete reverence, devotion and religious fervor.The largest congregational gathering was witnessed at centrally located historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar where thousands of people offered prayers.Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq on the occasion delivered the Friday sermon, throwing light on the importance and blessings of the day.The second largest congregational gathering was witnessed at Hazratbal shrine here where thousands of people offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers.From early morning thousands of devotees’-bound vehicles could be seen on their way to Dargah Hazratbal where devotes had the glimpse of holy relic.
The congregational prayers were also held at all Masajids and shrines in Srinagar including Masjid Jamiat-e-Ahlehadith, Gawkadal; Asar-e-Sharif, Janab Sahib, Soura; Asar-e-Sharif, Shehri Kalashpora; Ziarat-e-Makhdoom Sahib, Khanqah-e-Mualla and different Imambaras.In south Kashmir, people in large numbers offered the Jumat-ul-Vida congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid Hanfia, Jamia Masjid Ahlihadith, Bait-ul-Muqaram and Rehat-Ded Masjid in Islamabad town. Huge congregational prayers were also offered in Ziarat-e-Sharief Khiram, Kabamarg, Kund, Aishmuqam and Bijbehara areas of the district.In Kulgam the biggest congregational prayers were held in Jamia Masjid.
Huge congregational prayers according to CNS were also witnessed in Khankah Tral, Jamia Masjid Shopian and Jamia Masjid Pulwama.Thousands of Muslims also offered Jumat-ul-Vida prayers in all other districts of state.Meanwhile, the Jumat-ul-Vida was also observed as Yoom-e-Qudus and Yoom-e-Kashmir in the state.Special prayers were offered for the freedom of Kashmir and Palestine.A huge demonstration was held against Isreali occupation of Palestine and Bait-ul-Muqqadas at Jamia Masjids. The demonstration was held to mark the Youm-e-Quds.A procession led by Syed Abid Hussain from Masjid Zaman Abi Guzar under to Press Colony.
The protestors raised anit-Isreal and anti America slogans and expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine.Number of Religious Scholars addressed the Yumul Qudus crowd. They spoke at length on the issues of human rights and condemned the mass killing of innocent people around the world. The renowned scholars stressed the fasting people to observe patience and redeem the true teachings of Islam.Meanwhile authorities had made all the arrangements for observation of Jumat-ul-Vida. “We have pressed around one thousand vehicle to ferry devotees from various destination to the Hazratbal. Everything went smoothly,” said Mehmood Shah, RTO Kashmir. (CNS)
