The Minister of State, Finance and Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta today asserted that the coalition government is committed to encourage sportsmen by providing them requisite facilities for enhancing their skills in various sports so that they could excel, not only at district and state level, but also at national and International level competitions.
He said this during his visit to take stock of facilities available at Indoor Badminton Hall, Udhampur.The Minister said that due consideration would be paid to develop the existing sports infrastructure as the state has ample potential in sports and the need is to exploit it in a better way.He said that the Government is committed to develop sports infrastructure for popularizing sports culture in the state, adding that play fields would be developed at block and panchayat levels for promotion of sports activities in rural areas.
Pawan Gupta also interacted with sports persons who brought to the notice of the Minister non-availability of proper lighting system and lack of potable drinking water facility in the Hall. The Badminton players submitted that in absence of Badminton Association, vast potential which is available in Udhampur cannot be nurtured and demanded for establishment of Badminton Association.Mr. Gupta gave patient hearing to the Badminton Players and assured to take-up the matter with the Minister for Youth Services & Sports. He further assured that he will leave no stone unturned in mitigating problems of sports persons of Udhampur District.
