The arrangements for Shab-e-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida and Eid-ul-Fitr were finalized at a high level meeting convened here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Mr Abdul Rehman Veeri and Minister for R&B, Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari.The Ministers directed the officers to ensure that the people do not face any inconvenience on account of security, traffic management, drinking water, power supply, sanitation and healthcare services during the auspicious days.They said that all the concerned departments should work in close coordination and proper measures should be put in place to ensure availability of essentials including rations, sugar, Kerosene oil, LPG, meat, poultry etc on reasonable rates.

The Ministers also called for intensifying the market checking to curb profiteering and black-marketing of essentials.

The Chief Engineer PDD was asked to replace all the damaged transformers before Eid and ensure uninterrupted power supply during these days. “There should be no disruption of electricity supply especially during Shab-e-Qadr,” the Ministers told the Chief Engineer PDD.The Chief Engineer PHE was asked to ensure adequate supply of potable water especially in the areas which have been of late facing acute scarcity of drinking water. He was asked to press into service adequate number of tankers as and when needed.The Commissioner SMC was asked to ensure proper sanitation especially in and around the shrines and mosques in Srinagar.  He was also directed to deploy adequate number of mobile pumps for dewatering in case of inundation due to rains.The Minister directed that all the street lights especially around shrines and main markets should be made fully functional.Director Health Services was asked to deploy medical teams and ambulances at the places where major congregations would take place on Shab-e-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida and Eid.

The Ministers directed that in case of closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway due to rains, the supplies should be rushed to Kashmir through Mughal Road.The Ministers also directed the RTO Kashmir to ensure that proper transportation facilities are provided to the devotees during these days.Earlier, the Ministers took a brief from all the District Development Commissioners regarding the arrangements put in place in their respective districts for the auspicious days.Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr Asghar Samoon, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani, IGP Traffic, JP Singh, all the DCs of Kashmir division,   Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Commissioner SMC, Chief Engineers of PDD, PHE and UEED, Director Health Services Kashmir, RTO Kashmir, Chief Town Planner, other provincial heads, besides representatives of Wakf Board were present at the meeting.
