Two Tanzanian nationals, including an international drug peddler, were arrested at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here with 24.5 kg of drugs worth Rs.25 lakh in the international market, the CISF said on Saturday.Fundikira Rama Dhan Ismail and John Gugu, both 30 years old, were caught by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) around 1.20 p.m. on Friday in Terminal-3 of the airport."During profiling, Ismail's activities were found suspicious by the CISF surveillance and intelligence staff. He was selected for thorough checking," CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said.
"During screening of his luggage, CISF detected narcotic substance (in powder form) kept in five packets concealed in his trolley bag," said the official.Ismail, who came to India on a business visa, was supposed to go to Muscat from IGI by an Oman Airlines flight around 4.45 p.m.Gugu was also on a business visa and was also supposed to travel on the same flight.Singh said they immediately called the Narcotic Control Bureau. "On arrival of NCB officials, the seized narcotic substance was confirmed as 'Methqualone drug' weighing about 24.5 kg."Methaqualone is an anxiolytic and a sedative-hypnotic drug. NCB officials said Gugu was an international drug peddler and was in the wanted list.
