The residents of Court Road and adjoining areas Saturday complained that Taba Gali behind the Gurudwara has become a safe “heaven for drug addicts”. A delegation from the area told CNS that almost all the food stalls present in the Taba Gali have become a hub of drug trafficking and its consumption as scores of youth, mostly teenagers are seen consuming narcotics there.“Both local and non-local teenagers visit different food stalls here and they consume not only codeine syrups but charas and other narcotics as well. This Gali has been become a den of illegal activities,” they said.A number of times we informed the police to raid the place to nab the miscreants red handed. But every time these people managed to flee from the spot much before the cops arrived The delegation appealed the city police to initiate action against these durg peddlers and addicts. When contacted a top police official said the matter would be seriously looked into. “As you have brought the matter into our notice, we will look into it,” he told CNS.
